Long Description

Goal:

Development, implementation and maintenance of the most appropriate project management system to manage and control new projects based on new customer contracts as defined in the Allocation Requests approved by the VCST Board. 

To comply with the specific project targets in terms of timing volume, quality, cost and capacity in an efficient and effective way. 

To coordinate all activities with the different global departments and the plant(s). 

To report progress and define appropriate actions if needed, on all the milestones to the global steering committee.

To keep the project management system up to date concerning VCST, customer and specific requirements and to train the local project managers.

To coordinate multi plant projects.
 

 

Contact areas:

Internal: all departments and plants at all levels
External: customers (mainly sales, quality and engineering) and suppliers 


Relevant Quantitative Information:

project team members: approx. 10 senior employees of different departments
projects: all projects within Europe and all multi plant projects
investments: approximately 5 mn. € per project
yearly turnover: between 3 and 10 mn. €

Functional requirements:    

Education: Master degree in Engineering                               
Experience: minimum 5 years as project manager in the Tier1/Tier2 international automotive environment

 

 

Specific knowledge:

use of advanced project management tools
knowledge of internal VCST procedures
APQP in depth knowledge
capacity analysis skills
financial skills to perform post-calculation
knowledge of Customer (Specific) Requirements
knowledge of legal, regulatory and environmental aspects and product safety 
Language knowledge: English (fluent), German is a plus

Responsibilities and result areas:

Set up of milestone and resource planning for all the involved departments of VCST in accordance with the customer contract, feasibility review and approved Allocation Request.
Set up of detailed D4 including financial, timing, volume, quality, resource and capacity targets and get formal approval from the different directors and CEO.
Put together a project team with allocated resources from the different departments and lead the team to accomplish the target as set in the D4.
Follow up of the project plan and activities per the VCST Mile stone planning and report on a monthly basis to the Steering Committee on all targets set for the specific program per the VCST format.
Initiate actions to remedy any deviations or roadblocks and get them approved.
Get formal approval to close milestone by the Steering Committee.
Organize period follow up meetings with the customer.
Optimize the current project management system used within VCST. Organize yearly ‘Lessons
Learned’ sessions to further improve the system.
Train local plant oriented project managers in the use of the system and support them during
Start up in Milestone 1 and 2.
