BMT Aerospace is a well-established and growing aerospace manufacturing machining company seeking OD Grind Operators for our 2nd shift. This is a perfect opportunity for CNC Machinist with manufacturing experience in a low volume precision machining environment. Our clean and air conditioned facility is located in Fraser, Michigan. We offer competitive wages and benefits (includes BCBSM PPO Medical) along with a 10% shift premium. Pay Starts at $17.00 per hour - The hourly rate is based on experience. 2nd Shift is Monday - Friday from 5:30 pm - 6:00 am; weekend availability needed

Position Summary:
We are currently seeking skilled Machinists and Trainees to be trained on how to setup and operate CNC and Manual Grind equipment to exacting tolerances and dimensions with minimal supervision. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, good communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Work with complete integrity and compliance to company rules and regulations
Responsibilities:
• Reads, interprets and follows blueprints, sketches, and product/engineering specifications
• Setup and and operate CNC OD and ID grind equipment with minimal supervision on a Studer grinding machine.
• Grind of spline shafts and aircraft gears holding tolerances of .0001” - .0005”
• Maintain proper documentation of SPC data and participate in certified operator program.
• Inspect faces and diameters using micrometers, gages and amps
• Operate appropriate surface and creep feed (ID/OD) grinding equipment and other machinery as necessary to produce the required number of correct parts in a timely manner according to process documentation. (this can include operating multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously).
• Perform 1st piece, in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges and CMM equipment according to process documentation.
• Notify your Leader of all nonconforming product
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience reading blueprint drawings, job orders, tooling instructions or standard charts to determine specification procedures
• Experience with SPC Reporting is a plus
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
