MES Operational Tech Engineer

The MES Engineer will provide expertise in the technical operation of the company and Lean Projects at BMT. This role is responsible for shop floor systems, manufacturing applications, and machine integration. Provides technical support to troubleshoot equipment issues through structured-solving processes. He/ She will work closely with production teams to understand their needs and requirements to create custom MES applications to improve efficiency, quality control, and data management. We are building fully connected manufacturing systems to achieve operational excellence using Ignition from Inductive Automation. Duties/Responsibilities:
· PLC Interface development and ongoing system support
· Modify and create SQL queries and stored procedures to create reports and functions
· Drive standardization across MES processes and systems throughout plant network
· Provide technical support and consultation for new implementation of manufacturing execution system (MES)
· Develop new techniques to connect legacy equipment to modern infrastructure
· Create IoT applications that run on-premises and, in the cloud,
· Develop KPIs, metrics, and other monitoring tools to track I4.0 production environments
· Research and implement cost effective upgrades to the equipment and manufacturing applications
· Assist on developing testing for new functionality and rollout of products and services
· Work with colleagues to identify improvement requests, gather requirements and assist on prioritizing work
· Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, IT and other departments to identify opportunities for improvement of existing processes.
- Design, develop, and implement control systems for industrial automation processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and specifications.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify optimal control solutions.
- Develop and modify PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs to meet project requirements.
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of control systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users on control system operation and maintenance.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in control system technologies.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proactive and self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- Good interpersonal skills with “hands on” problem solving expertise
- Understanding of network and solid understanding of IT
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in information technology, Computer Science, related field of study or equivalent experience
- PLC programming background, i.e. Siemens, Beckhoff, Fanuc, and/or Rockwell controllers
- Robot programming background, i.e. Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, and/or Motoman
- Understanding of multiple computer programming languages, i.e. JavaScript, C#, R, Python, C++, and/or Java
- Strong experience with relational databases, i.e. SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle. NoSQL database experience is a plus.
- Experience with the MQTT protocol Controls Engineer
