Quality Assurance Engineer

BMT Aerospace is a well-established and growing aerospace manufacturing machining company seeking experienced Quality Engineer. We offer competitive wages and benefits (includes BCBSM PPO). Our clean and air-conditioned facility is located in Fraser, Michigan.

BMT Aerospace manufactures products include flight safety detail gearing, gearbox assemblies, shafts and couplings for fixed and rotary wing aircraft platforms and systems. BMT Aerospace services five basic market segments within the aerospace industry encompassing: Turbine Engine & Systems, Mechanical Actuation, Helicopter Drive Systems, Defense and Airframe Assembly Structures. Services include "build to print" gearboxes using existing OEM drawings.

Position Summary:

Our Quality Engineer is responsible for determining production standards for a company’s products by establishing quality control systems and setting product requirement rules.1. Develops and establishes quality system procedures and supporting documented information in compliance with AS13100, AS9100, AS9102, ISO and customer requirement.

1. Develops and establishes quality system procedures and supporting documented information in compliance with AS13100, AS9100, AS9102, ISO and customer requirement.

2. Ensures the promotion of awareness of Quality Management System throughout the organization.

3. You will host and conduct internal and external Quality Management System audits, responsible for related activities including closing out audit findings, creating audit finding reports and determining proper corrective/preventive actions, as well as, perform follow up and effectiveness of these actions.

4. Provide technical support and maintain a strong working relationship with the operations team.

5. Providing technical support to Purchasing department and Receiving Inspection by reviewing procedures, specifications, instructions, and processes to ensure compliance to applicable drawing, specifications and standards in an effort to resolve Quality and Delivery concerns.

6. Participates in management and improvement of the quality performance of our sub-tiers via on-site audits, root cause/corrective action effectiveness review.

7. Generate, maintain and provide quality metrics to the BMT Management team to drive quality improvement programs.

8. Serve as a liaison to customer representatives for the Quality discipline as needed.

9. Conduct Gage R&R studies.

10. Support FAI activities IAW AS9102 and customer requirements.

  • Requirements:
  • Understand internal and external customer requirements with high attention to detail in resolving findings.
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering technical data, such as manufacturing or part drawings, to provide guidance to cross functional teams.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, AS9102 and ISO.
  • Ability to process and communicate information using MS PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management, as well as internal and external customers.
  • Organization, planning and project management and decision-making skills.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required or 5 years of experience in a quality role.
