Job Description

As a Manufacturing Innovation Engineer at BMT Aerospace, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing innovative manufacturing processes, technologies, and strategies to enhance production efficiency, quality, and sustainability. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Research and Development: Conduct in-depth research on emerging manufacturing technologies and materials. Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements to identify opportunities for innovation.
  2. Additive manufacturing, a growing production technique, needs strong support from the innovation team for future investments. Your hands-on approach is crucial for overseeing and optimizing the entire additive manufacturing process and team operations.
  3. Process Improvement in both domains of subtractive and additive manufacturing: collaborate with cross-functional (international) teams to analyse existing manufacturing processes, identify bottlenecks, and propose innovative solutions to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  4. Project Management: Lead and manage innovation projects from concept to implementation. When necessary, you'll engage with research institutions and machine manufacturers, facilitating the coordination and execution of test campaigns.
  5. Automation and Robotics: Explore and implement automation solutions, robotics, and Industry 4.0 technologies to streamline manufacturing processes and reduce manual labour.
  6. Data Analysis: Collect and analyse data from manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement and track the performance of innovative solutions.


  • A master's degree in electromechanical engineering.
  • Foundational understanding of additive and subtractive production technologies, material science of metals, automation and digitalization, gears.
  • Willing to expand your knowledge on the job through internal and external training and acquire new skills and knowledge in areas such as CNC machining using multitaskers and metal 3D printing.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Creo is a plus) and data analysis tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in project management and effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of/Interest in Aerospace standards and regulations
  • A passion for innovation and a desire to stay current with the latest manufacturing advancements.
  • You are willing to travel occasionally.
